Why is Geography important?

Latin America and the Caribbean is considered to be the fourth largest continent in the world and has some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world, including places like the Amazon and the Atacama desert. The geography of Latin America and Caribbean is important because it holds the stories and physical growth of the land. (Boudreau, McDaniel, Sprout, Turgeon, 2012)

Learning the geography not only opens a new perspective about the place but it also explains history of how the land became to be how it is today. When people hear of places like Brazil, they only think of things like the Amazon rain forest or carnival. Did you know the Amazon rain forest spans across eight countries in Latin America: Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana(an overseas territory of France),the Amazon is also responsible for stabilizing local and global climate change.
